Week 13: Basic Circuitry

Kongming Lantern

Materials: paper, copper tape, LED, coin battery, paper clip
Process:

My basic circuit project is a girl putting on a Kongming lantern. Kongming lantern is an ancient Chinese handicraft. It is used as a prayer, and is generally flown on festivals such as the Lantern Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. People write their wishes on Kongming lanterns and fly them into the sky, hoping to fulfill their wishes. I draw the image on Procreate first and then print it on paper with my printer. After that, I folded the paper and created the basic circuit inside with LED, copper tape and coin battery.

Take-aways:

1. Electronics play a helpful role in arts education in many schools. Technology broke through the physical and time constraints of traditional school and learning continued outside of the classroom.

2. Electronics can be perfect resources for finding reference material for some projects. People can get a lot of information from electronic devices. They allow one to research images and also to see how someone else did something. It’s helpful to see how other people else approached the challenge.
